Delighted to be back together once again
A COMMUNITY group in the region has celebrated being able to meet up again following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Members of the drop-in group in Riding Mill, who meet every Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm, have finally been able to have a coffee and a catch-up and play games such as scrabble and domino's once again.
“The Covid pandemic hit as we were considering how to open up to more people," said Jan Walmsley from the group.
"The pandemic highlighted the need for the drop-in as we became even more aware of the effects of isolation on those who live alone, not simply through the lockdowns, but in many other situations.
“The drop-ins are something a bit different where the atmosphere is relaxed and where conversations develop naturally over a friendly game or simple chat.
“We are now looking forward to introducing some of our new activities over the coming weeks, and already know of some itchy fingers keen to get to the sketch pads, pencils and paints."
They are also hosting a table top sale at the village Parish Hall on Saturday, July 3 in partnership with St James' Church to help raise funds for the group.
